Ankle Snatcher
By: Grady Hendrix
While I had heard of Grady Hendrix before, I haven’t gotten around to reading his work yet. This is definitely going to change now that I’ve read this!
Honestly one of my favorite stories from this collection. I loved the framing for telling the story, the folklore surrounding the monster, how weird and strange the whole situation was, and the description of how it kills. This story surprised me with how fast paced and intense it became.
Easily a 5-star story for me and I look forward to reading more by Hendrix!
My rating: 5/5 stars

I love this one, too. And I also have a massive fear of what’s under the bed. I can’t leave my ankles exposed at all. HEHE. I’ve read every book he has out!! Try We Sold Our Souls or the Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires and of course My Best Friend’s Exorcism. How to Sell a Haunted House starts out a bit slower but is worth it. The only one I struggled with was Horrostor, not bc it isn’t great, but it’s very dark and a little depressing. Thanks for sharing!!
Ooh I love all the recommendations! This story was so good cause it played with that innate fear. It’s something I don’t see touched on very much in horror stories, you know? Really looking forward to discovering more of his work! Thank you!
You will not be disappointed. I almost had a chance to interview him and even sent the questions but the editor got sick and dropped it. The Audible versions are awesome, but his books are full of fun stuff that you need to read both. I’ve been collecting signed first editions…this girl prefers books to jewelry.
Oh my gosh, that’s awesome that you got so close to interviewing him! And yesss, I am such a collector for my fave authors’ physical books. And I like both, lots of books and jewelry for me! I can wear it while I read. 😂
