Subscribe To My Ko-Fi

Ever since I started a Ko-Fi shop back in October last year, I have been blown away by the support that I’ve received from fans. My readers are just incredible and I wanted to find a way to give back to them.

I’ve opened my Ko-Fi page to accept subscriptions. This means that I can post content there exclusively for my subscribers. For a small monthly donation, subscribers get a slew of perks:

What you get as a monthly supporter on my Ko-Fi page: ko-fi.com/marlenafrank: Thank you in my Book acknowledgements, Monthly shout out on social media, Chapter sneak peeks, Progress updates on my upcoming releases, A free signed paperback after 6th month of patronage

For all of my books going forward, my Ko-Fi subscribers will get a thank you in my book acknowledgements. This will include both my print and ebook editions. They will also get a monthly shout-out on social media as a thank you.

Chapter sneak peeks will be given out months before they are available anywhere else, including my mailing list or my Facebook group. This includes my upcoming Wolves of Kanta series and my Impostor collection.

Subscribers also get access to my work behind-the-scenes, from incomplete cover art, to formatting my books for print, to struggles I run into with being a hybrid author, to trying to wrangle edits. If you want to see what goes into my books, this is where I’ll share the process.

Also, after being a subscriber for six months, I’ll sign and ship a paperback of your choice.

The minimum cost of subscribing is only $3/month, which is about the cost of a coffee (or a tea for me).

I hope this will be a fun way to let my fans be part of my books and help motivate me in my author career. You’ll get to join me as I stumble my way through self-publishing several upcoming books and ask any questions along the way.

If you can’t subscribe, you can still follow my Ko-Fi page for any public updates I make about book releases and items that get added to the shop.

A big thank you to my readers and fans who have supported me through this crazy year we’ve had! I look forward to where we go next. 🙂

I Started a Ko-fi

I’ve been writing professionally for ten years now. It’s crazy to think that.

I’ve seen so many small presses come and go. I’ve encountered incredible editors (and frightful ones), I’ve seen glowing rejection letters (and decimating ones), and I’ve slowly learned the ropes. It’s taken a lot of time and a lot of dedication. It requires becoming an expert or at least gaining competency in a variety of areas.

Here are just a few that I came up with off the top of my head. These are all skillsets I didn’t really have ten years ago, but now definitely do.

  • Legal consultant
  • Contract negotiator
  • Social media representative
  • Therapist
  • Software specialist
  • Website engineer
  • Business entrepreneur
  • Tax agent
  • Festival representative
  • Graphic designer
  • Videographer
  • Book tour planner
  • Public speaker
  • And so many more…

About three years back, as my sister and I started to break down the parts and pieces of turning this work into a small business, it quickly became a no-brainer. The amount of time/money/effort that goes into being an author easily makes up a small business. It takes up my evenings, my weekends, my family time, and especially time with my friends. (Love y’all!)

The truth is: I create because I love doing this, not because it pays. (Maybe some day.)

I thought it would be a good idea to give you all, my readers and fans, the opportunity to buy me a coffee (or tea in my case). Imagine sitting down beside me at a local Starbucks and just sliding the cup over while I’m deep in a scene. Know that it’ll help fuel a good afternoon of content creation, whether that’s thinking up some horrific scenes or writing some dialogue that pulls at the heartstrings — or it might help me celebrate my birthday today. 🙂

It’s small, but it helps. It adds up. Thank you for supporting me!
